Over my competitive experience in CF (I placed 2nd in the ESL tourny and played in IGL before it died) I've come to a conclusion about scrim/match rules. These are my suggestions, feel free to discuss/argue.
- Match Format: First to 11 Rounds each half, whoever has the most rounds after both halves wins. - Weapon Restrictions: No "advanced" or modified versions of the basic weapons, no ZP weapons. - Char. Restrictions: No SPOP. Seriously. - Item restrictions: No ZP items, no armor. no flash goggles, no footstep noise down. Possibly no "character modding" items. E.g. the helmet, back pack, etc. Basically no items that give either team an advantage that seem out of the norm, (C4 defuse speed-up and nade pack are exceptions.) - Boosting allowed, with a limit of 2 people boosting. Aka no 3 man stacking. - Double jumping, and any skill along the DJ line allowed. I may think of some later. Thanks for your time. Also, if you have shoutcasters in a match, tell them to drop the C4 BEFORE going to kill themselves. Seriously, it gave teams a disadvantage in the Exhibition. EDIT: As for an AWM limit, I believe IGL had a limit of 2 per team, and Ryangi's Tourny (Forgot the name) had a limit of 2 as well. I don't think ESL had a limit. I would like to add to this:
I agree with the sniper limit. I would even limit it to a single person based on how strong the sniper rifles are in this game. It worked in the CoD series for CAL and CEVO. As you stated no ZP items and no add ons or items that can give one player the upper hand. You have already stated the ones I was concerned about (no step noise, flash goggles, armor). I believe that the ruleset should be the barebones of the game. There are too many variables that could change the outcome of a match. I have also seen what damage the shotguns can do in this game. Any input on maybe limiting this to 1 per team? Or maybe only allowing the pump shotgun to be used? For specifics to the rules: - I would say 2 minute rounds. It will get the game moving quickly and force the use of speed strats, while still allowing for exciting clutch situations. Not only does it put pressure on the offense, it puts stress on the defense when they are being attacked quickly. Also a good reason for this is that the maps are fairly small. - Double jumping and stacking is allowed as long as it is not used to reach a spot which is considered a glitch. -> A glitch spot would be a place where you can see under the map, through walls, or can not shoot through, or be shot from. - 1 sniper, 1 shotgun limit. (Reasons stated above) - Limit it to 1 or 2 smoke grenades per team. Although you think a team would be crazy to have 3+ smoke nades, in the CoD series I've seen this get out of control. 1 smoke on the spawn cross, 1 smoke on the plant cross, 1 smoke on the plant, 1 smoke on the opposite bomb site to add confusion, and 1 smoke after the plant was down. It adds a ton of unneeded confusion to the gameplay. I do not consider this to be an intelligent strat either. - Once the staff is chosen I believe we should have an overview about the different maps to see which are appropriate for league play. I know there are some one sided maps but I'm not sure if they'd be worth removing. It only encourages a strong strat from which ever side has the disadvantage. - No SPRAYS. They can be extremely deceiving. - Default weapons only. Nothing with +5 ammo. This goes along with the items that give an advantage. I will edit this if I can think of anything else. What does everyone think about the attachments for weapons? Silencers and Scopes on rifles. The only problem I have is the scopes on the rifles. Thoughts?

I don't think the suppressors are going to make a difference. I say we allow them and the scopes.. unless you guys just want to set it to where only certain guns you can have,

Imma have to disagree with the 1 sniper limit.
In my experience, 2 snipers has pros and cons, and isn't to difficult to get past. When Ryangi tried to open his league, he set a 1 sniper limit, and everyone got so pissed off that he had to have a vote, and eventually change it to 2 sniper limit. ANd get out with the supressors. They really do make a difference. You can ninja Ceyhan so easily with those it's not even funny. |

Yeah there should be 2 sniper per team.. makes it easier for the team, a little bit challenging for the other team BUT it can be easily bypassed/ killing the snipers if the team knows strategy. |

No sniper limit. If your dumb enough to use more than 2 AWP's, go ahead. And if your bad enough to not be able to take down a 5 AWP team, then you shouldn't be playing league player.
No smoke limit. People in CF aren't smart enough to set up that many smokes. All guns should be allowed. It would be the dumbest move in the world to restrict any type of gun. |
